Top 11 Ways to Prepare for a Stress Free Christmas

It may be the most wonderful time of the year but as the festive season draws closer and closer, stress levels defiantly start to rise!

There is just so much to do! Gift shopping, Christmas cards, attend a million different parties, school concerts, decorations, cooking, cleaning, present wrapping… the list goes on and on.

The weeks leading up to Christmas can be so hectic, we barely have time to enjoy!

But Christmas should not be something we stress over! It’s a time to relax, have fun and spend quality time with those who matter most. So, to help you from turning into the Grinch this festive season, we thought we would offer you some tips and tricks for getting Christmas ready.

We've also teamed up with the awesome guys at Sunnylife who's great decorations, decor and table settings can help create a bright, fund and relaxed feel this Christmas.

1. Have a Christmas To Do List

With so much to do it can be hard to know where to start! Take the time to write down everything you need to do and break down the big jobs into smaller, more manageable ones.

Think about presents you need to buy, food and drinks you need to organise, odd jobs around the house like mowing the lawn and vacuuming.

Yes, there is a lot to do but checking off each task one by one makes the whole process a lot less overwhelming!

2. Share the Responsibility

Remember, you do not have to do everything yourself!

Send hubby off to pick out the tree. Get the kids to help with present wrapping. Ask Grandma to make the Christmas pudding.

Delegating jobs between family members will help take some of the pressure off you.

3. Get in Early

Beat the Christmas madness and get your gift shopping, Santa photos, Christmas light spotting, etc. in early.

4. Order your Gifts Online

Save time, sanity and the headache of large shopping centres and have all your Christmas shopping delivered straight to your door.

Keep an eye out for special Christmas sales, as well as free shipping.

5. Plan your Christmas Day Menu and Order your Food

Once you know exactly what you are going to be eating on the big day, you can then start planning what you need.

Order all your meats as soon as possible (this one is important!) and start stocking up on non-perishables in your usual food shops.

Don’t forget, the supermarket will be chaos in the days leading up to December 25th, so try and get in early or leave it till the very end of the day to avoid the hustle and bustle.

6. Prepare the House and Decorations

Get the house looking festive as early as possible – It will be the last thing you feel like doing a week before the big day! If you can, set the table a few days early. It will save you some time come Christmas morning.

7. Plan Your Tablesetting

8. Have the Kids Christmas Day Outfits Sorted

Of course, you want your little ones looking there best on Christmas day!

Do not leave it to the last minute to find the perfect outfit and instead browse Tinitrader’s fantastic selection of girls and boys clothing.

At least that will be one less thing you need to worry about on Christmas morning!

9. Don't Forget about Christmas Eve

Make sure the stockings are up and you have all of Santa’s snacks sorted so you and the family can sit back, relax and watch the Christmas carols together.

Pop the kids in special Christmas pyjamas (if they don’t have some, grab them a pair from Tinitrader) and it really will begin to feel a lot like Christmas.

10. Make Sure you Include at Least a Few Things you Really Enjoy

Christmas should be a fun and happy time for all. So, whether it be sitting down to watch the carols with your family or visiting the annual Myer Christmas windows, make sure you allow yourself time to do them!

Likewise, don’t sacrifice your daily rituals. If you enjoy that morning spin class or really like to read for half an hour before bed – do it! These everyday practices will help keep you calm and sane amidst all the Christmas madness!

11. Take a Few Shortcuts

Buy the turkey already stuffed, ask everyone coming to dinner to bring a plate and take advantage of gift wrapping services at shopping centres and stores.

Yes, you are amazing, but no one is expecting you to do everything yourself! Simple shortcuts can save lots of time and effort, leaving you with more time to relax and enjoy the Christmas period.
