Who is BCNA? About Breast Cancer Network Australia
You may have heard of BCNA or the Pink Lady. You may have seen Shane Crawford riding a bike from Melbourne to Perth last year to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer. You may remember seeing a huge Pink Lady come to life with thousands of women on the MCG some years ago.
But do you know what BCNA actually does and how they are different from other breast cancer organisations?
BCNA supports, informs, represents and connects Australians affected by breast cancer.
Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) works to ensure that Australians affected by breast cancer receive the very best support, information, treatment and care appropriate to their individual needs
BCNA is the peak national organisation for Australians affected by breast cancer, and consists of a network of more than 85,000 individual members and 310 Member Groups. More than 90 per cent of our members have had a diagnosis of breast cancer, and the remaining members have had a personal experience with breast cancer through a family member or friend.
BCNA is represented by the Pink Lady silhouette, symbolic of our focus on the women diagnosed with breast cancer and all those around her.

So who is who in breast cancer?
BCNA is one of four major breast cancer organisations in Australia. The National Breast Cancer Foundation, represented by the pink ribbon, raises money for breast cancer research. Cancer Australia uses the latest research findings to develop and update guidelines for health care professionals and educate the community on early detection. The McGrath Foundation raises funds to place breast care nurses in communities across Australia.
These four organisations have different roles and missions, and work together to achieve the best possible treatments and care for women diagnosed with breast cancer. This partnership enables us to work where there are gaps and avoid duplication of our activities, to achieve the best results for women.
