When making the decision to go on a family holiday, there are so many things to consider. Will there be enough for the kids to do? Will the accommodation be suitable for families? And of course, keeping the costs to a minimum. Thankfully, Paradise Resorts Queensland makes for the perfect family getaway, with heaps of entertainment for the kids, rooms that accommodate for the smallest to largest families as well as time for adults to switch off. And best of all, is completely affordable. Read what one family had to say about their time at Paradise Family Resorts.
Recently our family went on a little family holiday to the Gold Coast, a little getaway before our second little babe is born (due March 2016). Being heavily pregnant I knew I wanted to head somewhere sunny and relaxing, but also mindful my husband and daughter would want some fun activities and excitement!
We decided to stay at the Paradise Resort Gold Coast, as it's renowned for being a heaven for kids and paradise for parents. It honestly offers something for everyone in the family, making it unnecessary to even leave the resort if you don't want - exactly what we needed!
So what makes this resort the perfect destination for families?
We stayed in a King Bunkhouse, which could easily fit a family of 5! Rooms started from around $279 a night but there is also alternatives like the Resort Rooms which start from as little at $179 a night.
Considering all the resorts amenities and offerings I found it to be extremely good value for money as we hardly left the resort the entire five days we stayed. This meant we saved on spending heaps of money on transport, food and activities outside as there was already so much included at the resort.
The resorts restaurant, cafe and general store were also really reasonably priced and had the ability to be billed to the room and paid at the end of the stay, making it easy to monitor how much we spent.
Paradise Resort is located conveniently about 5-10 minutes walk north of Cavill Ave and the heart of Surfers Paradise, and only a 3-4-minute walk to the beach! It's also on the right side of town for good access to the theme parks if you are wanting to head out to any of them!
Besides commuting from the airport, which is around 20-30 minutes, you may not even need car hire as the resort is walking distance from and to so many great shopping spots, restaurants and cafes and of course the beach!
For the Kids
It is honestly endless offerings for kids at Paradise Resort! From toddlers to teenagers, there really is something for kids of all ages. As Annabelle is two we got so much use out of the waterparks and huge jungle playground, that in the five days we hardly got to do much else because she enjoyed them so much!
However, if your kids are older there is again heaps on offer that will keep "I'm bored" from ever leaving their mouth. This includes laser tag, rock-climbing, a games room and even an ice-skating rink!
They also offer complimentary child-minding which is split between a younger 0-2-year-old kids club, which Annabelle attended and LOVED, And then a 3-12 kids club! There are also hourly activities running everyday, from Teddy Bear Workshops to Cupcake Decorating and even Poolside Movies by Moonlight!
For the Adults
I have to admit that the waterparks were just as fun for us and kept my husband as entertained as my daughter if not more! As most of us are big kids at heart, you get just as much out of the fun activities as the kids I think!
But for those times your looking for a little bit of respite, there is a great assortment of parent friendly offerings including the outdoor spa and bar, poolside cafe & bar and in-room massages.
Eat & Drink
I must admit, I was really surprised at the variety and quality on offer both the Bistro and Cafe had! The Bistro has been transformed into a fun 1950's style diner and has a great selection of dishes on the menu for everyone.
As does their Poolside Cafe and Bar, which also has a Fruit and Juice bar attached! Making it easy to find healthy and nutritional options as well as making a killer coffee, because let's be honest - that's a MUST for the parents!
It is obvious though that the resort has employed qualified chefs to design and deliver their menu as the food is always tasty and always fresh! However, if your staying a while and begin to get a bit bored of the menu they also have amazing poolside theme nights available throughout the warmer months, including Mexican, BBQ and Wok nights!!!
Even with all these great aspects, there is one thing that you simply cannot buy and that’s the atmosphere! There is such a great vibe at the resort, from the second you check in to the day you leave. The staff are such a delight and always happy to go above and beyond on any request, always happy to stop for a chat and evident they all love their job!
It is clear that a lot of the staff are not all just traditional hospitality staff but in fact people who are trained and work with children, some even entertainers!
It's also nice knowing that as a kid friendly resort, no one bats an eyelid to your child throwing a tantrum for taking them out of the pool, because most likely the other kids are doing it as well. It's nice to get a reassuring smile from another parent than be made to feel your ruining someone’s holiday with your screaming child!
I will also note that there is heaps of handy facilities on site like a gym, mini-mart and laundry. If your like me, I did all my washing before we left so I didn't have to do it when I got home!
