Philips Avent's Grown Up Cup is the perfect tool to help your child transition from sippy cup to adult cup without the stress or the mess
As your child grows, learning to drink independently is a necessary skill that they need to develop. However, teaching your toddler to drink like a grown up can be a messy process!
The revolutionary new Philips Avent Grown Up Cup makes the move to independent drinking just that little bit easier, helping your toddler learn to drink from an open cup just like Mum and Dad, minus the mess.
The secret is the unique spill-proof valve which only lets fluid through when activated by your little one’s lips. Designed by the experts at Philips Avent, the fast-flowing valve enables your toddler to drink effortlessly, without having to suck from the rim – Genius!
Spoutless and strawless, the Philips Avent Grown Up Cup allows drinking from all around the rim (just like an adult cup), while trainer handles ease your little one into the world of adult drinking, helping them hold the cup as they learn.
Impressive on paper, we had mum of one with one on the way, Olivia, try out the Philips Avent Grown Up Cup on her 15 month year old, Harriet. Here’s what she had to say.
Tell us a bit about your family?
I have one girl, Harriet, who has just turned 15 months old plus another one on the way due this December. Harriet and I live on a dairy farm with my husband just outside Maffra, Victoria.
We were so excited to trial the Grown Up Sippy cup as are always on the lookout for great new products that help with our daughter’s development.
What did you like most about the Philips Avent Grown Up Cup?
Harriet picked up how to use the cup quickly, especially with the easy to hold handles and the long spout on the cup. The cup was easy both at home and when out and about. There was a little bit of inevitable spilling however this was only tiny.
We are always conscious of Harriet’s development and any cup offering a quick transition from sippy to normal cup that will help with less mess in the long run gets my vote.
The cup was also super easy to take apart for cleaning in the dishwasher which is always a massive plus in my books!
When did you find the cups most useful?
Definitely at family dinner time. We could start to see Harriet mimic our water drinking habits which is what we knew the cup was all about. It was nice watching that unfold in front of us.
We like the idea that Harriet will soon be joining us at the dinner table with ‘adult’ water cups in no time!
Anything you would like to change?
The no spill valve is good to prevent spillage however we found Harriet was still sucking on the cup, rather than drinking. We hope this is just a phase as she becomes more use to drinking from the cup with further use.
We did find the cup leak a tiny bit but this didn’t bother us much.
Would you recommend this product to a friend?
Yes, we would always make sure a child is supervised when using the cup but think it’s a great initiative to encourage grown up drinking habits.
